9.17am UKIP LEADER NIGEL FARAGE DUE ON BBC

9.13am It seems that the Tories have of course lost seats as they were defending from a point when they were at their highest ever point in 2009 and Ed Miliband is fighting seats against result when Gordon Brown was leading a dying and unpopular government. Ed is also fighting against a very unpopular government due to austerity yet is only 6% better than 2009. UKIP make a 20% gain so it seems that it is not just the TORYs who have lost the votes but LABOUR have not gained back the votes they lost in 2009 they have gone to UKIP.

8.48am
Lets not forget that Ed Miliband is working against 2009 figures when labour got 20% at an all time low under Gordon Brown. Ed Miliband at the moment is only 6% better than Gordon Brown

8.41am A lot of the analysis of the polling before the election thought that UKIP was being overhyped. Now we can see it was underestimated. UKIP 25% in Lincolnshire & Hampshire 27% in Essex. 2nd in power pushing labour & Libdems to 3rd & 4th

8.36am UKIP MAKE UP THE HEADLINES ON THE NEWS CHANNELS THIS MORNING

They actually polled 30.7% in the seats they were contesting: 39,380 votes out of 128,329.
