PETER HAIN & NIGEL LAWSON DRAWING THE BATTLE LINES

Since Thursdays result I have have seen much commentary from Labour supporters saying how pleased they were with the results and how well Labour were doing. Yes! They have done well but not enough to do what they need which is win a majority for the 2015 General Election. Now when I have wrote this I got slated but now Peter Hain is saying the same. (Well not just because I said it.) But he also says the council results were not great and Labour have to work harder.

Mr Hain, a former Welsh Secretary who left Labour's front bench last year, said: "If a general election was held tomorrow, Labour wouldn't win a majority ... this was always going to be a big ask - under any leader - after our terrible result in 2010."

He added: "We're halfway there, both in terms of time lapsed and progress made. I'm confident we've done enough to stop the Tories winning outright, and produce another hung parliament.
"But the truth is if we want a majority in 2015 [the expected date of the next general election], we need to be performing better than we are now."

Then for the Tory side we have Nigel Lawson saying that the UK shouldexit Europe, This I guess will give Cameron another headache as it just gives fuel to UKIP and angers the pro europeans within his party. At what stage will there be all out war within the Conservatives?

He said he "strongly" suspected there would be a "positive economic advantage to the UK in leaving the single market".
Far from hitting business hard, it would instead be a wake-up call for those who had been too content in "the warm embrace of the European single market", adding: "Over the past decade, UK exports to the EU have risen in cash terms by some 40%. Over the same period, exports to the EU from those outside it have risen by 75%."
Withdrawing from the EU would also save the City of London from a "frenzy of regulatory activism", such as the financial transactions tax that Brussels is seeking to impose.

What are your thoughts dear reader?
