POLITICAL punters believe Jim Murphy is the man to become the next
permanent leader of the Scottish Labour Party, say bookmakers William
Hill who originally offered the East Renfrewshire at 7/1 to succeed
Johann Lamont, but were forced to slash those odds, cutting him
eventually to 1/2 favourite, taking over from Anas Sarwar, who had been
the original market leader.
'We certainly under-estimated the likely support for Mr Murphy who
rapidly took over as hot favourite' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
WILLIAM HILL.....NEXT PERMANENT SCOTTISH LABOUR LEADER: 1/ 2 Jim
Murphy; 4/1 Anas Sarwar; 7/1 Gordon Brown; Kezia Dugdale; 10/1 Jackie
Baillie; 16/1 Douglas Alexander; Neil Findlay; 20/1 Jenny Mara; Drew
Smith; 33/1 Margaret Currie; Alistair Darling;
**William Hill make Labour 2/1 to win the 2016 Scottish Elections with the SNP 4/11 favourites.
