AS THE GENERAL ELECTION campaign began in earnest, a William Hill customer staked the largest bet yet placed on what government will result from the Election, staking £10,000 that the outcome will be a Conservative majority government, at odds of 11/2, (it will make a profit of £55,000 for the customer) and Hills have now cut that option from 11/2 to 9/2 third favourite.
'We are anticipating the first eight figure betting turnover on a General Election, have already taken the biggest ever General Election bet of £200,000 on a Hung Parliament, and now this Wiltshire-based client has staked the largest bet on what government the Election will produce' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
WILLIAM HILL expect David Cameron still to be Prime Minister after the Election and make him 4/7 favourite to be PM on August 1, 2015, with Ed Miliband 11/8. It is 14/1 that anyone else will be in the role by then.
WHICH PARTY WILL WIN MOST SEATS? - 2/5 Conservatives; 7/4 Labour; 50/1 Lib Dems; 400/1 Lib Dems
LIB DEMS to remain in government via coalition? - 2/1 Yes; 4/11 No.
